Sunday Snap – The Hulk

We were in Manchester for last week's Sunday Snap of the Herbal Tonic. I asked what the name of the drink was and the answer is

Vimto

Taking a glug with the right answer were Susan, Minoru, Sarah and Sarah

For those of you wondering how big the actual bottle is here it is in its full glory.
We're going across the Pennines to Leeds this week. On our trip there we came across a selection of Marvel characters much to the delight of Master JibberJabber. They were advertising the new Avengers: Endgame film which has broken box office records. One of the characters in the film is the famous superhero The Hulk.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby he first appeared in 1962 in his own comic book The Incredible Hulk. The character actually has two personas – a very mild mannered and physically weak physicist and the huge and furious green-skinned Hulk. When the physicist is exposed to gamma rays during the detonation of an experimental bomb he ends up becoming the Hulk in certain situations beyond his control. This happens when he gets upset or his heart rate goes above a certain level.

Since the characters has been subject of several different comic stories, television series and now films the manner of his transformations has changed slightly. Those of a certain age will remember the television series of the 1970s and 80s staring Bill Bixby as the physicist and Lou Ferringo as Hulk. What always stays the same is that as the Hulk he is very destructive and often falls out with other superheroes because of his temper. Once back in his regular human form he can find it hard to remember what has happened. This week's question is

What is the name of the Hulk's alter ego?

We were joined last week by Susan and an Easter egg hunt. Minoru has been to see the cherry blossom season in Aomori. Some of Sara's favourite things this week are an orchid cactus and a birthday dinner at the waterfront. In Cornwall Sarah had a walk on the beach. A robin was taking a break with Mary. There's been a birthday at Kara's complete with a trip to the water park and a Fortnite birthday cake. In Blackpool Sarah went exploring under the pier. Anne has been on a trip to the local farm. A loving pigeon couple was spotted by Jutta. Soma has been continuing her visit to Christ Church, Oxford. Finally, Jesh has found that spring is finally here to stay.

  3. We watched The Avengers yesterday and this became a topic of conversation between me and my husband. His name is Bruce Banner in the films, but it was changed to David Banner for the television series! As another note of interest, my driving instructor was also called David Banner so I was very careful not to make him angry :)
