February is
traditionally the month of love but of course our only love is that
of cake! We've gone mad on the chocolate front this month so let's
see what we have been baking.
I started
off the month celebrating World Nutella Day. I could have just put
some chocolate spread on a bit of toast but I knew putting some in a
cake recipe would be a much better idea. All you need for this a jar
of chocolate spread, a couple of eggs and some flour. What we
particularly liked about this Nutella
traybake cake is that the flavour of the hazelnut really comes
through.
I find at
the start of the year citrus fruits are at their best both in taste
and juiciness. A batch of lemon
and poppy seed muffins seemed just the thing to show off their
flavour. With the addition of the poppy seeds these work well for
both breakfast and a sweet treat.
If you ask
around what people say their favourite cake is then I expect
chocolate would could up the most. To celebrate 10 years of blogging
Choclette at Tin
and Thyme has gone back to where it all started with a recipe for
a Chocolate Log. For this special anniversary she had also rounded up
ten other favourite chocolate recipes from bloggers.
Thank you to
Choclette for bringing so many wonderful recipes to us this month. With February being such a short month you will already find March's Love
Cake live.
Thanks Ness. Much as I love chocolate, I quite fancy some of those lemon and poppy seed muffins. They look nice and fresh and ready for spring.
