Sunday Snap – Wild Horses

We were looking at The Rocket steam engine at the National Railway Museum for last week's Sunday Snap. I asked who were the father and son team which designed it and the answer is

George and Robert Stephenson

Steaming ahead with the right answer were Lisa, Kara and Anne.

A couple of weekends ago we went down to Hampshire for the weekend. Whilst I was carefully navigating the country roads I found my route blocked by these horses or ponies as they are known as. Mr JibberJabber got out of the car and managed to get a photograph without scaring them. They live in one of England's newest national parks but the area has long been known by its designated name.

There are around 5,000 of these ponies roaming wild around this area but they are in fact owned by common landowners. Their welfare is monitored by the officers known as Agisters who have legal responsibility for all the animals who live in this area. Such is the status of these ponies that they have right of way over vehicles – good job we stopped to let them move on by themselves! Not every horse or pony in this area can be classed as the special breed native to this area. There is a maximum height they can be and some coat colours are not permitted along with any with blue eyes. This week's question is

Which national park do these ponies live in?
We were joined last week by Susan and a Hollywood holiday. Lisa has been making the most of M. In Dorset Kara has been to Old Harry Rocks and celebrating a graduation. Anne has been rediscovering the woods. This week's favourite things from Sara are a purple lacecap hydrangea, pink lavender, a sunset sky and petunias on the patio. Finally, Jesh has been spotting feather pens and ornate doors.
