We were looking across to one of the wonders of the Isle of Wight for last week's Sunday Snap. I asked what the name of the chalk stacks are and the answer is
The Needles
Shining out with the right answer were Cheryl, Anne and Kara.
We're back up to Edinburgh for this week's Sunday Snap and a fictional policeman's favourite drinking hole. The Oxford Bar in Young Street in Edinburgh's New Town has featured in many of Ian Rankin's books. It was chosen as in real life a lot of police officers drink in there. It has been noted that the location of Rankin's police officer's station is in another part of Edinburgh so he wouldn't be close enough to pop in as often as he does in the novels.
The character is known for his unkept looks and gruffness. In order to progress a case he is not afraid to break the rules. The books have been adapted for television with John Hannah first playing the lead role. From the second series onward the role was taken over by Ken Stott. This week's question is
What is the name of Ian Rankin's fictional detective?
