A rather neglected Salvation
Army Citadel was the focus of last week's Sunday Snap. This Victorian meeting house was built in the 1890s after
The Salvation Army was founded by
William Booth and his wife
Catherine.
Well done to Cheryl,
Rachel, Kirsty,
Cass, Sarah,
Michelle, Jen
and Nadine for getting the
question correct. A bumper crop of right answers last week. I'll have
to make this week's question harder...
Last week we made a trip to
Upfest,
a street art festival in Bristol. For many people if you mention
'street art' and 'Bristol' you'll get one response – Banksy. Whilst
the elusive Banksy has been rather prolific in his home city over the
years there is so much more to Bristol's street art scene than just
his work. However, such is the draw of Banksy's work that it is
estimated that visitors coming to Bristol to view his work contribute
anything between £2.5 million and £10 million each year to the
local economy and effectively lowers the cost of Council Tax to
Bristol residents. The last piece of work that Banksy claimed credit
for in Bristol was back in October last year. Situated in Hanover
Place near the Harbourside it was a parody of the 17th
century painting by Johannes Vermeer. The original painting has also
inspired a novel and in turn a film and play adaptation. This week's
question is
What is the name of the
original painting by Johannes Vermeer?
We were joined last week by
Betty
and her perfectly framed shot of the two remaining rock 'sisters' at
Three Sisters Beach in New Zealand. There was some underage driving
going on with Susan.
Is it a plane, is it a bird? Well it's certainly a superhero over at
Cheryl's Madhouse. Sophie
was joining us for the first time with a lovely twilight sky. The
bees were busy at work on the alliums in Kirsty's
garden. Finally, Sam
has been eyeing up the coffee and cheese at an Italian delicatessen.

I'll
share my favourites with you next week and remember I do like a bit
of a tale to go with a photo but it's not a necessity!
Yay, I have this exact same picture, only with me standing in front of it! It took us ages to find it, we certainly got some exercise that day. I still like the Mild, Mild West the best though. It's a huge mural of a teddy bear in Stokes Croft on the left hand side, as you enter the city from the North.
