Clarks Dessert Pots review

Clarks Chocolate Dessert Pots review
How many times have you needed to prepare a dessert and you find you've run out of some the ingredients or it just doesn't turn out right? What do you do when those unexpected guests turn up? One way to get round this is to have something in the cupboards ready and waiting and Clarks have come up with the solution with their new range of Dessert Pots.

We were sent the Chocolate and Orange pots and the Chocolate and Salted Caramel flavour to try out. Also in the range is Chocolate and Mint plus a Chocolate and Coffee variety. The 60g pots may look small but they are very rich so are in fact just the perfect size to finish off a meal. Since we had a punnet of raspberries to hand we popped some on top and they cut through the richness perfectly. We thought they were delicious but certainly not something to eat everyday.
Onto the technical details...The main selling point of these desserts seem to be that they can be kept and served at an 'ambient' temperature. As they are long-life products they can be kept in the cupboard and bought out when needed. If you're wanting to take them out for a packed lunch or picnic they don't need any chilling. The desserts come in a sturdy plastic pot which we did wash up ready to be used again in the future.

Both of the flavours we tried are suitable for vegetarians. The allergens stated are milk and soya. Being a product from Clarks the added twist is that they contain carob syrup which they state is, “...a natural, lower calorie alternative to a refined white sugar with a low GI.” In addition to this Clarks say they contain up to 70% less fat than the chilled rival products. The salted caramel version has 2g of fat in a 60g pot while the orange version has 4.1g of fat in a 60g pot.

Verdict: We really enjoyed them as a treat dessert. They are great for a standby dessert or posh picnic.

We were sent a selection of Clarks Dessert Pots for review purposes. The opinions and photographs are our own.
