Afternoon Tea Bus with Rennie

All aboard! As someone who was born and raised in London I am very familiar with all the famous sights of London but I have to say I never tire of seeing them. For something different what better way to take them in than on a vintage London Routemaster bus complete with afternoon tea!
We joined the special blogger bus just off the South Bank in the shadow of the London Eye. Our places were already laid out with a delicious selection of sweet and savoury treats. There was no fear of sliding plates as the teaplates and cakestands were attached to the tables. We set off and crossed over the River Thames on Westminster Bridge so we had full view of the Houses of Parliament.
I decided to start with the savouries. The finger of cucumber sandwich was made with herby bread. The other sandwich was cheese and ham with a wholegrain mustard mayonnaise. I love quiche and this little one was filled with mushrooms. A mini wholemeal roll contained chicken breast and salad. To finish off the selection there was a smoked salmon blini.
To go with our sweet pastries and cakes there was a choice of tea and coffee. I went with my favourite of Earl Grey to wash down the cupcakes, macarons and custard tarts topped with raspberries and meringue. As we talked and nibbled away the sights rolled on past our windows. Down Whitehall and the top of Downing Street, past Horse Guards and what looked liked the rehearsal for Trooping the Colour, before riding onto Kensington.
There was another little surprise for us with some scones with strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. It was a good job we were given little boxes to take home any leftovers. Now with all this delicious food and drink whilst being driven around the traffic-filled streets of London you could be forgiven for thinking it was all a bit too much to digest. That's where Rennie and their range of treatments come in. Not surprisingly they have found that many people suffer from heartburn, indigestion and trapped wind after eating and also when busy and stressed. Sadly this means certain foods are avoided and meals are no longer enjoyed. As we swept past the grandeur of Buckingham Palace I and just a few crumbs remained on my vintage teaplate I could certainly confirm it is possible to have your cake and thoroughly enjoy it!Happy eating to all!

Mother JibberJabber and I were guests of Rennie onboard the BB Bakery Afternoon Tea Bus. All photographs, words and opinions are my own.

  5. OMG what an absolutely fantastic idea! What's more, those treats look really good, not a token effort with a focus on the bus theme. I would absolutely love to try this!
