Sunday Snap – The University Castle

A big column in a city centre seemed to baffle everyone for last week's Sunday Snap. The major clue was the bergamot scented tea as the Newcastle structure pictured was Grey's Monument and was erected in commemorate the achievements of

Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey

So no free cups of tea this week for anyone.

Onto this week and we have a rather gloomy view of a rain-soaked castle. Built in the 11th century it has been part of the city's university since 1840. It is rather overshadowed by the cathedral that stands opposite it. Between them they are jointly designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site. This week's question is

Where is this castle located?

We were joined last week by Cheryl whose children had a bug's eye view. There was mamavteacher's little park playing daredevil. In New Zealand there was a fairy hunt going on underneath Betty's toadstools. We were also treated to two further shots from the North East. From @EmmyPips on Twitter there was a photo of Souter Lighthouse. Finishing off was @CannyFood with their view of Newcastle.

  1. It sure looks like it's out of place in our world, but I adore it sitting behind all the trees and shrubs.
